Finance Director 

UK remote with 25% European travel requirement

£100,000 + Bonus

Position Summary

Our client is a portfolio client with global operations.  Following a recent acquisition, we are recruiting a Finance Director who will oversees all financial aspects of the business and drives the company’s financial strategies in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team.  Accountable to the CEO, you will manage the financial operations of the business, including finance & accounting, compliance with statutory requirements, corporate governance, and risk management.

This role includes developing operational and financial strategies, creating metrics tied to those strategies, and monitoring control systems. You should be a seasoned operational finance leader, a strategic thinker, and have strong commercial awareness, with the ability to use your expertise and customer focus to exceed expectations.


Main Responsibility Areas

Business Partnering

  • Support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to develop clear business plans, priorities, and forecasts in line with ±5% forecast accuracy targets.

  • Evolve financial processes, systems, and policies to ensure scalability, data accuracy, and compliance with regulations and corporate governance.

  • Supervise due diligence processes and lead negotiations with third parties.

Finance Operations

  • Oversee monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting to ensure compliance with internal/external requirements and IFRS.

  • Lead the Quarterly Strategic Review forecasting process.

  • Apply financial leadership and best practices to improve revenue, profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency.

  • Recommend and implement strategies to improve business performance, operating ratios, and ROIC.

  • Review and standardise risk management policies and processes.

  • Improve administration processes and systems for company records and contracts.

  • Stay up to date with trends and regulations to ensure finance functions remain effective and compliant.

  • Collaborate with functional leads to ensure project bids and contracts meet corporate parameters.

  • Coordinate all legal activities internally and with group legal.

  • Ensure record keeping meets requirements of auditors and government agencies.

  • Maintain relationships with external auditors and address their findings and recommendations.

  • Oversee direct and indirect tax filings, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all jurisdictions.


People Leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Finance team.

  • Drive succession planning and talent management processes.

  • Manage key stakeholder expectations.


Other Activities

  • Attend management meetings, annual events, and activities directed by the CEO.

  • Contribute to a culture of learning, trust, and self-improvement.

  • Undertake any other duties as required.


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or international equivalent).

  • Experience working with international entities in, with direct responsibility for local accounting and reporting.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS15

  • Experience in group reporting within a publicly listed company, working to strict timetables.

  • Hands-on approach - comfortable preparing/reviewing reconciliations, posting journals, and preparing working papers.

  • Passion for educating and learning; patient, constructive, and positive.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work effectively with the business at all levels.

  • Strong organisational skills and independence in managing shifting priorities.

  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.


Background Requirements

  • Extensive experience in multi-entity finance functions.

  • Experience working with international entities (Europe).

  • Telecoms sector experience is an advantage.

  • Software industry experience is an asset.

  • Minimum of 5 years PQE.


Eligibility Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, both locally and internationally, sometimes at short notice.

  • Must be legally authorised to work in the UK for this role.
