About the Job
Reporting directly to the Group Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will take responsibility for a range of transactional and month-end accounting activities while supporting the smooth running of the wider finance function.
The position offers varied exposure across billing, accounts receivable, reconciliations and financial reporting, with the scope to become increasingly involved in statutory accounting, analysis and finance projects as the role develops.
Duties will include:
- Coordinating the monthly billing cycle and ensuring customer invoices are produced correctly and on schedule.
- Maintaining the accounts receivable ledger, monitoring overdue balances and assisting with credit control activity.
- Completing bank, credit card and employee expense reconciliations.
- Assisting with monthly and annual financial close activities.
- Producing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating differences where required.
- Processing intercompany transactions, including invoices and internal recharges.
- Providing additional support to the Accounts Payable function and helping resolve queries.
- Assisting with the annual external audit by preparing supporting information and responding to requests.
- Completing relevant regulatory and statistical returns.
- Maintaining accurate financial records, systems and supporting documentation.
- Supporting the Group Accountant with analysis, statutory accounts preparation and other finance-related projects.
- Identifying opportunities to improve existing finance processes and working practices.
- Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the wider organisation.
About the Successful Applicant
You will be a part-qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant with good experience of finance systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills. Highly numerate and detail-focused, you will be comfortable working to deadlines while maintaining accuracy. You will bring an organised, proactive and self-motivated approach, alongside the confidence and flexibility to manage changing priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
