Temporary Accounts Assistant – Newbury Office-Based - £14 - £18 per hour

About the Job

This is a varied finance position supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business while working closely with senior leadership. The successful candidate will take ownership of core accounting processes, assist with reporting requirements, and help ensure accurate financial control across the organisation.

Duties will include:

  • Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control activities.
  • Processing employee expenses, payroll administration and pension-related transactions.
  • Preparing and submitting PAYE payments.
  • Completing bank and company credit card reconciliations.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register and posting depreciation journals.
  • Producing budget versus actual expenditure reports and highlighting variances.
  • Preparing and posting accruals and prepayment journals.
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Producing partner statements and issuing invoices.
  • Monitoring and administering partner loan accounts.
  • Responding to finance-related queries from partners and stakeholders.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
  • Supporting year-end audit activities and providing required documentation.
  • Processing weekly and monthly payment runs.

About the Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a finance or accounting role, with strong knowledge of reconciliations, VAT, payroll processes and month-end activities. You will possess excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. A finance qualification or active study towards one would be advantageous.
