About the Client

Our client is a growing organisation operating within the Technology sector, delivering complex projects across multiple service lines. They are investing heavily in their finance function to support continued growth and are looking for an experienced Senior Project Accountant to play a key role in strengthening financial control and reporting. Their culture is rooted in respect, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in everything they do.

About the Job

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong qualified accountant to take ownership of project accounting across a varied portfolio of contracts. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will ensure the accuracy of project financial reporting, oversee revenue recognition, support month-end reporting and help develop robust financial processes as the business continues to expand.

Duties will include:

  • Taking ownership of project revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and percentage of completion accounting.
  • Managing work in progress (WIP), accrued and deferred income, contract assets and liabilities.
  • Producing accurate monthly project financial reports and reconciling project ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Preparing trading results through to gross margin for monthly management accounts.
  • Overseeing project cost accounting, accruals, provisions and contract-related balances.
  • Supporting month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Reviewing project performance alongside commercial teams and explaining financial movements.
  • Managing intercompany project transactions and ensuring control accounts are reconciled.
  • Supporting statutory reporting, year-end processes and external audit requirements.
  • Developing and improving project accounting processes, controls and reporting.
  • Working closely with operational and commercial stakeholders to improve financial visibility.
  • Supervising and developing Assistant Project Accountant(s).
  • Driving improvements in financial systems, automation and reporting capability.
  • Ensuring project data integrity from initial setup through to project completion.

About the Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with strong experience in project or contract accounting. You will have excellent knowledge of revenue recognition, WIP accounting and management reporting within a multi-entity environment. Strong Excel and ERP system skills are essential, alongside the confidence to challenge information, communicate clearly with stakeholders and continuously improve financial processes.

What You Will Receive in Return

In return, you will join a growing organisation where you can make a genuine impact on the development of the finance function. You'll benefit from a collaborative working environment, exposure to large-scale projects, excellent career development opportunities and the chance to shape project accounting processes as the business continues to grow. A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package are also on offer.
