Management Accountant

About the Client

Wade Macdonald is working exclusively with an established and growing SME within the Business Services sector on the appointment of a new Management Accountant. Based near the Thame area and with around 100 employees globally, this is an organisation where people are encouraged to get involved, take ownership and make a genuine contribution.

They are looking for someone who will enjoy being part of a friendly team and who brings plenty of energy and personality to their work. Their culture is rooted in collaboration and approachability, with a working environment where people can build strong relationships across the organisation.

About the Job

This is a varied, hands-on Management Accountant role, combining management and financial accounting with reporting, FX and project work. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Finance Director, you will become a key member of a small finance team.

It would particularly suit an all-round accountant who enjoys getting into the detail, solving problems and finding better ways of doing things. As the organisation continues to grow, there will also be opportunities to become involved in systems, reporting improvements and additional projects.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting the monthly management accounts process, including accruals, adjustments and month-end activities.

  • Preparing and posting accounting information relating to overseas operations.

  • Managing and reconciling intercompany positions across the group.

  • Maintaining FX information, updating rates and processing month-end foreign exchange revaluations.

  • Producing regular commercial and financial reports for different areas of the business.

  • Investigating reporting issues and improving the quality and efficiency of management information.

  • Preparing analysis relating to turnover, expenditure and other financial information.

  • Supporting budgeting activities and distributing relevant information across the organisation.

  • Assisting with wider finance activities when required, including elements of purchase ledger processing and authorisation.

  • Developing a strong understanding of the organisation's finance and CRM systems and proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting.

About the Successful Applicant

You will be an energetic, friendly and capable all-round accountant with strong analytical skills and advanced Excel knowledge. Experience of FX and improving finance systems or reporting processes would be particularly valuable, alongside strong management accounting experience. Applications are welcomed from AAT-qualified, part-qualified and Qualified by Experience candidates who are proactive, commercially minded and comfortable working within an SME environment.

What You Will Receive in Return

You will receive a salary of £38,000–£45,000, alongside a broad role where you can take genuine ownership and develop as the organisation grows. This is an opportunity to join an approachable finance team, work closely with senior finance leaders and gain exposure to international accounting, systems and project work.

The working hours are 9.00am–5.30pm, with a strong preference for someone happy to be office based five days per week. However, there is potential for one day working from home and four days in the office for the right candidate.
