About the Job
This strategic leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee all aspects of financial reporting, controls, and modelling. Reporting to the Director of Finance and managing a Senior Accountant, you’ll be instrumental in supporting investment decisions, driving digital finance transformation, and ensuring financial integrity across the Authority.
Duties will include:
- Leading financial control across large-scale projects and strategic programmes
- Creating advanced financial models and tools to assess future planning and ROI
- Supporting senior leadership with analysis and insights to inform decision-making
- Overseeing annual budget-setting processes and long-term financial planning
- Managing the delivery of statutory accounts and maintaining compliance with regulatory timelines
- Coordinating internal and external audits and ensuring robust risk management
- Driving automation and the development of dynamic reporting through collaboration with the MI team
- Providing senior financial leadership and deputising for the Director of Finance
- Mentoring and managing the Senior Accountant
About the Successful Applicant
You will be a CCAB-qualified accountant (or qualified by experience) with strong technical expertise and a background in public sector or similarly complex environments. You’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership, possess excellent Excel and financial systems knowledge, and be confident translating complex data into actionable insight.
