About the Job

You will be responsible for overseeing the full payroll function across the organisation. This includes maintaining high standards of compliance, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery, and managing relationships with internal departments and external providers. This role sits within HR and collaborates closely with the Finance team.

Duties will include:

  • Managing end-to-end payroll operations, covering the full employee lifecycle
  • Overseeing pension and benefit administration, including statutory compliance such as the Apprenticeship Levy
  • Operating and maintaining the payroll system (Sage 50)
  • Staying up to date with payroll legislation and advising on policy changes
  • Ensuring accurate financial records and assisting with budget-related data
  • Managing sickness and absence records, as well as bonus, loans, SMP, overtime, and other related transactions
  • Cross-referencing absence data with time and attendance systems
  • Liaising with third-party providers, government bodies, and benefit administrators

About the Successful Applicant

You will be an experienced payroll professional with a recognised payroll qualification, strong knowledge of PAYE, and full proficiency in Sage 50. You’ll bring excellent communication skills, a high degree of confidentiality, and the ability to manage conflicting priorities. Strong IT skills and a structured, methodical approach are essential.
