Financial Controller – £65,000 - £75,000 plus Bonus. Fully remote

The company

Wade Macdonald is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller for a rapidly growing £50million t/o Software business based near reading, Berkshire. Our client is part of a well known and highly respected global software giant. The role offers succession planning for the Financial Director and opportunities to progress with in the larger group.

As Financial Controller (FC), you will be responsible for the global accounting function . The FC will manage the full accounting process from daily ledger activities through to annual statutory filings, providing technical accounting leadership, and ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and Group policies and submission deadlines.

The position is fully remote with an office based near Reading with an option for face-to-face meetings. The role reports directly to the company’s Director of Finance.

 The role:

  • Manage the Revenue Controller and O2C analyst
  • Be responsible for the accurate accounting of net revenues (gross less COS) in accordance with Company policies and IFRS15, including revenue recognition; cost matching; WIP accounting; deferred revenue positions
  • Pro-actively work on system efficiencies: utilizing the newly implemented NetSuite system to automate revenue accounting
  • Manage the project accounting templates, ensuring these reflect the latest percentage completion forecasts from the Project Managers.
  • Participate in project reviews, challenge and hold Project Managers to account.
  • Oversee the accounting of recurring revenue streams, with support from the O2C Analyst.
  • Prepare large deal revenue recognition checklists for submission to corporate finance
  • Ensure processes and governance in place to enable timely and accurate accounting of revenues and tracking of projects and deals.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations for revenue specific accounts
  • Take the lead for net revenue in financial processes including month-end, audits, working capital initiatives, balance sheet reviews, and reviews with Legal & Ops.
  • Own internal control documentation (COSO) for revenue processes
  • Calculate Sales commissions and issue commission statements
  • Be the superuser for existing reporting tools, responsible for training team members
  • Create reports and data extracts to facilitate the completion and timely submission of month- and quarter-end deliverables.
  • Participate in preparation for reviews including Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership and guidance, build and maintain relationships with Group technical accounting teams, interpreting and applying for the business.

Key skills & Competencies:

The ideal candidate will have started their career and qualified with an accounting firm, before progressing into industry working in a multi-entity finance function as a Financial Controller. They will be adaptable, keen to learn, business-minded, seeking to apply their skills in a rapidly-changing and fast-paced environment. Exposure to software industry related accounting, project accounting and M&A experience will be an asset.

  • Holds an Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Demonstrates strength in application of current technical accounting knowledge.
  • Experience of multiple entities / countries / currencies within a Group organization.
  • Understanding of project accounting and software accounting concepts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally from time to time (expected less than 10%).
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate and work with the business as a business partner.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple shifting priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience of multiple entities / countries / currencies within a Group organization.
  • Understanding of project accounting and software accounting concepts

Salary £65,000 - £75,000 plus bonus up to 25% and great benefits.
