About the Job:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join a key manufacturing site in South Wales. Supporting local operations and managing an on-site Accountant, the role will be responsible for financial reporting, operational finance, and business partnering with site leadership, with support from a wider central finance team.

Duties will include:

  • Taking ownership of monthly and quarterly management accounts, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Supporting operational and R&D teams by providing timely and accurate financial insight
  • Overseeing daily finance operations including journals for payroll, prepayments, accruals, and intercompany recharges
  • Leading site-level opex forecasting and analysing variances against budget
  • Managing R&D grant accounting, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Reviewing payroll in coordination with HR and the central payroll team
  • Preparing VAT returns and supporting statutory accounts and audit requirements
  • Liaising with inventory and costing teams based overseas to ensure accurate product costing
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to local finance processes
  • Supervising and developing an on-site Accountant
  • Collaborating with finance teams at other UK locations, with occasional travel as required
  • Providing ad hoc financial analysis to support site leadership in decision-making

About the Successful Applicant:
You will be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or ACCA) with a strong foundation in financial reporting and core accounting principles. Previous experience in a manufacturing or R&D setting is preferred, and familiarity with US GAAP is beneficial. You’ll be confident in Excel, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to lead and support others.
