Head of Finance & Company Secretary - Newbury - £50.000 - £60.000

I am currently recruiting for a well-respected charity based in Newbury. This is a varied role which will oversee operations as well as finance. This charity is having a huge impact on people's lives and has helped 10000 people in the past. The successful candidate is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and carries responsibility for assisting the Managing Director in the overall running of the business together

Key duties:

  • Assisting the Managing Director in strategic finance - eg M&A, performance management of work-based learning/government contracts
  • Assist in developing strategic vision, identifying areas of value creation/potential cost saving.
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis as required, supporting the Executive Leadership Team with strategic objectives.
  • Design and implement modelling for the purposes of monthly forecast, annual budget and bi-annual long term strategic planning. Provide commentary on principal variances.
  • Accountability for management accounts, financial modelling, budgeting and scenario planning, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, vendor/partner relationships.
  • Partner with departmental heads, providing financial support to aid decision-making process.
  • Produce detailed monthly analysis of actual performance, and provide variance analysis/ insight from actual trading results.
  • Compile cash flow forecasts and monitor performance on a monthly basis.
  • Compile Statutory Accounts and Year End audit schedules. Liaise with Auditors and provide assistance as required.
  • Payroll (through third party payroll bureau)

Company Secretary:

  • a register of present and past trustees, directors and secretaries
  • a register of all shareholders, past and present and their shareholdings
  • a register of any charges on the company's assets
  • organising board meetings, preparing agendas and minutes of general meetings and board meetings
  • other activities as directed by the Board
