Financial Accountant - Up to £33,000 depending on experience - Bracknell

The role
Reporting into the Financial Controller, with management of two members of staff, this role is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background, currently working towards CIMA or ACCA (or equivalent), to develop their skill-set in a well-established & growing company. You will be supported through studies, offered the opportunity to work in many areas of finance and manage a small team (Assistant Financial Accountant & AP Clerk)

Duties to include:

  • Reconciliation of month-ends accounts, making adjustments where necessary
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet and cash flow statement
  • Analysis and preparation of quarterly VAT reports (ensuring correct VAT is applied) as well as year-end partial exemption calculations
  • Monitoring cash bank balances and assisting in monthly cash flow
  • Managing the bank reconciliation process
  • Preparing and maintaining monthly cash flow forecast
  • Payroll duties: Receiving monthly payroll and pension from HR for 135 staff, main point of contact for payroll bureaus, signing off payrolls and pensions, monthly reporting
  • Producing statutory financial statements, liaising with external auditors
  • Keeping up to date with accounting standards and changes of legislation to provide guidance throughout the company

What you'll need to be successful

  • Currently studying towards CIMA or ACCA qualifications (or equivalent) essential
  • A degree in Finance (or similar) or AAT studies beneficial
  • Strong exposure in an accounting environment, preferably in an SME or not-for profit organisation
  • VAT experience is essential (partial exemption knowledge desirable)
  • Multi-currency experience needed due to the company working throughout the world
  • Exposure of payroll duties highly desirable
  • Knowledge of producing statutory financial accounts highly desirable
  • Competency in Microsoft packages, with excellent Excel skills
  • A strong, positive mind-set with the ability to work hard and be a leader, able to push back where necessary and able to work under pressure
