About the Job

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a small, friendly finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This varied and hands-on position will take responsibility for the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial controls and efficient processes across the organisation and its subsidiaries.

The role offers considerable autonomy and the opportunity to broaden your experience across multiple areas of finance, with scope for someone looking to take the next step in their career.

Duties will include:

  • Coordinating month-end activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and reviewing financial transactions.

  • Overseeing purchase and sales ledger activities, ensuring invoices, payments and outstanding balances are managed effectively.

  • Preparing VAT submissions, including group returns, and supporting other statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Managing payroll processes alongside colleagues, ensuring accurate calculations, timely submissions and appropriate reconciliations.

  • Overseeing fee administration, including invoicing, payment monitoring and associated financial reconciliations.

  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts, departmental financial information and regular reporting.

  • Working closely with external auditors and assisting with year-end financial requirements.

  • Maintaining effective banking, credit card and payment administration procedures.

  • Providing financial guidance and assistance to internal stakeholders, responding to queries and supporting operational teams.

  • Identifying opportunities to streamline procedures, strengthen controls and improve the overall efficiency of the finance function.

About the Successful Applicant

You will have practical finance experience, including VAT return preparation, strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail. Organised, adaptable and confident working independently, you will communicate effectively and enjoy contributing to a small team. A recognised accounting qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous, alongside experience in charity accounting or a similarly varied finance environment. A proactive approach and willingness to embrace responsibility are essential.

What You Will Receive in Return

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected and supportive organisation offering a varied role with genuine scope for professional growth. You will benefit from working within a collaborative finance team, gaining exposure to a broad range of financial activities and developing valuable experience alongside an experienced Financial Controller.
