Assistant Accountant
Winchester, hybrid-working - 3 to 4 days WFH, up to £38,000pa plus study support
Wade Macdonald is currently partnering with a highly successful engineering business based in Winchester who are actively looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant. A reputable and well-established name within their industry sector, this impressive and sizeable organisation is on an upwards growth trajectory due to continued success and is consequently looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to evolve with the role and company.
As the Assistant Accountant, this role will provide accounting support across the business, servicing key contracts through the provision of transactional support through to forecasting and analysis. This is a hybrid role that will offer both a combination of office and home-based working with 1 to 2 days based in their head office in Winchester.
About the role - key responsibilities:
In this role, you will be reporting into the Finance Manager providing accounting support across the business;
Cost Allocations
Variance Analysis of Standard Costing compared to Actual Costing for Plant, Material, Labour and Fleet
Stock Control
Analysing Stock for ageing, stock turnover and accuracy of stock counts
Weekly Commercial reconciliations.
Analysing actual costs and preparing reports.
Analysing Overhead costs
Preparation Weekly / Monthly Cost transfer journals
Reconciling the Balance sheet accounts
Working with and covering for the Accountant
General cost and financial duties
What you will need to be successful:
Part-qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Ideally but not essential - proven experience of cost accounting
Solid knowledge of UK accounting regulations
Excellent technical accounting knowledge
