Overview:
Our client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in Newbury. This role is ideal for someone with experience in transactional finance who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is confident managing multiple priorities.
As an integral part of the finance function, you will be responsible for supporting daily operations including stock ordering, credit control, invoicing, expenses management, and setting up new customer and supplier accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
Transactional Finance
• Process and monitor sales and purchase invoices with accuracy and in a timely manner.
• Match, batch, and code purchase invoices to ensure proper cost allocation.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Credit Control & Payment Chasing
• Proactively chase outstanding payments via phone and email.
• Maintain and update the aged debtor report.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate prompt payment.
Expenses & Account Set-Up
• Process staff expense claims in line with company policy.
• Assist with setting up new customer and supplier accounts, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant.
• Maintain the finance database and ensure records are accurate and up to date.

Skills & Experience Required:
• Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant or Finance Administrator role.
• Proficient in using accounting software (Sage 200 is desirable) and MS Excel.
• Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and transactional finance.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Confident communicator, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
