Case Study – Sourcing a Niche Commercial Finance Analyst
Our Consultant
Keeley Hamblin led this recruitment project, having built a strong reputation with the client for delivering high-calibre finance talent for technically demanding roles.
The Brief
The client required a Commercial Finance Analyst to support pricing and cost initiatives across the Supply Chain function. This was a highly specialised role demanding strong technical ability in Power BI, particularly in designing and building interactive dashboards for business-critical reporting. In addition to analytical acumen, the ideal candidate needed to demonstrate confidence in Excel and experience manipulating large data sets to deliver commercial insight and benchmark reporting. Given the niche skillset, the brief was clear: find a data-driven professional with a passion for visualising insights and a background in supply chain or FMCG/hospitality sectors.
The Process
Keeley worked collaboratively with the hiring Manager to gain a detailed understanding of the analytical tools, reporting structure, and the business impact of the role. Recognising the technical specificity, she launched a targeted headhunt campaign across LinkedIn, job boards and Wade Macdonald’s database, concentrating on professionals with advanced Power BI portfolios. She ensured each candidate aligned both technically and culturally with the client’s values.
The Result
Within a short turnaround, Keeley delivered a refined shortlist of six highly relevant candidates, all of whom met the advanced Power BI criteria and had demonstrable experience in pricing analytics. The successful candidate not only met the technical brief but brought added value through their prior experience. Keeley has remained in touch post-placement, offering onboarding support and ensuring a smooth integration into the team.
