Case Study - Credit Risk Manager
Our Consultant
Keeley Hamblin was contacted to manage this piece of recruitment.
The Brief
The client, unable to fill a newly created Credit Risk Manager role through internal recruitment efforts, sought Wade Macdonald’s expertise. This niche role required specific credit risk experience, unlike the more common credit control positions, making the search particularly challenging.
The Process
After an initial call to review the job specification, Keeley arranged a detailed Teams meeting to explore the client’s requirements fully. With the nuances of credit risk management in mind, Keeley began sourcing candidates through LinkedIn, the Wade Macdonald database, and Reed.
Despite significant interest, the role attracted a high number of unsuitable applicants due to the specificity of credit risk management expertise required, as opposed to general credit control experience. Recognising the impact that candidate handling has on the client’s reputation, Keeley personally contacted each unsuitable applicant to explain the decision, ensuring a respectful and transparent experience for all involved.
Keeley presented three shortlisted CVs to the client initially, followed by an in-depth discussion to confirm alignment with the role’s objectives. At the client’s request, she sourced three additional candidates to complete a robust candidate pool.
The Result
All six candidates were interviewed via Teams by the line manager and internal recruiter, with two progressing to second-stage, face-to-face interviews. Following a feedback discussion with the client, an offer was made to the top candidate, which was accepted. Post-placement, Keeley continued follow-up calls to support both the client and the candidate, reflecting her commitment to ensuring a seamless experience and safeguarding the client’s reputation throughout the process.
