Their culture is rooted in respect, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in everything they do.

Important Candidate Requirements

This is an urgent hire, and candidates must be available on a notice period of no more than one month.

We are specifically seeking candidates who have experience working within start-ups, scale-ups, or smaller, fast-growing businesses where resourcefulness, resilience, and autonomy are essential. Candidates from highly structured corporate environments may find this role less suited to their experience.

The successful individual will be comfortable operating in a demanding and fast-moving environment, capable of managing competing priorities, adapting quickly to changing business needs, and maintaining high standards under pressure.

About the Job

This is a broad and hands-on Management Accountant position responsible for overseeing financial reporting, operational finance, payroll, compliance, and business partnering activities across multiple entities. The role will suit an experienced finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoys partnering closely with senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.

This is not a role for someone who requires significant guidance or close management. We are looking for an individual who can quickly assess situations, identify solutions, and take ownership of outcomes with minimal supervision.

Duties will include:

  • Managing the full month-end close process across multiple entities
  • Producing monthly management accounts with commentary, analysis, and supporting reports
  • Maintaining accurate balance sheet reconciliations and month-end controls
  • Preparing and posting journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions
  • Supporting cash flow forecasting and monitoring funding requirements
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Ensuring financial records remain compliant and audit-ready
  • Overseeing supplier payments, expenses, and corporate card processes
  • Supporting improvements to finance systems, reporting, and internal processes
  • Preparing VAT returns and ensuring accurate tax reporting
  • Leading the external audit process and coordinating with auditors and advisors
  • Managing R&D tax credit submissions and statutory compliance activities
  • Coordinating UK and international payroll activities with external providers
  • Supporting payroll reconciliations, pension submissions, and HMRC requirements
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to provide financial insight and commercial support
  • Supporting wider strategic finance projects, forecasting, and scenario modelling
  • Providing guidance and support across the finance team

About the Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a qualified or qualified by experience finance professional with strong financial reporting, management accounting, and payroll experience. You will have previous experience using Xero, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a start-up, scale-up, SME, or high-growth environment
  • The ability to work independently and make informed decisions without requiring constant direction
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • The resilience to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders
  • Previous team management experience with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop others

Due to the urgency of this requirement, only candidates with a notice period of one month or less will be considered.

What You Will Receive in Return

You will join a supportive and collaborative organisation offering exposure to a varied and commercially focused role with opportunities to influence process improvement and strategic decision-making. The business offers flexible working with just one day per week in the London office, alongside a competitive salary package and opportunities for long-term development.
