This years International Women's Day theme is #equalforequal.
March the 8th annually celebrates 'the social,
economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.'
We are joining the celebration to show our commitment to #equalforequal and so are providing you with some insight into the women who work at Wade Macdonald. We chose to use the photo above as we feel it highlights all the different personalities away from the professional work environment usually experienced - Enjoy reading.
What is your biggest personal achievement?
Getting to where I am even though it hasn’t been an easy journey. I moved to England when I was a child and never thought that I’d end up calling this place home.
Who is your role model and why?
My grandma and my mum. They’re both incredible in their own way and have taught me to how deal with disappointments and bumps in the road.
How do you overcome challenges?
I panic, overthink and then get a plan together and work past them. Deep down I love a good challenge and find it very motivating.
Colleagues describe me as Chatty, quirky crazy cat lady
What is your biggest personal achievement?
Getting to brown belt in Judo! Although I need to go back and get to black!
Who is your role model and why?
My parents! They raised me to be the independent, motivated woman I am today! Raising 4 girls at a young age must have not been easy (especially for my dad bless him), but they always give us the best life advice and support. I might not have seen it when I was younger when I thought I knew everything, but growing up I realised they always wanted the best for me, I’m super proud to have them as my parents!
How do you overcome challenges?
Depending what they are, I normally break it down to work out how best to overcome it, always ask for help/advice and stay calm about it!
Colleagues describe me as Smiley, thoughtful, ambitious, humorous and upbeat!
In your eyes, what is your biggest personal achievement?
In all honestly graduating, although it was a long long time ago now I had to deal with the loss of my mother in my 3rd year and I will always remember how proud of me my dad was when I called him to let him know I had passed my degree.
Who is your role model and why?
My parents! – both of whom are no longer here but arrived from Italy with nothing and built up what some would say were “traditionally Italian based businesses”. Yep Ice Cream and Barber shop! They taught me a good work ethic, family first and gave me a loving home and family environment. They are still inspirational and I still strive to emulate them and make them proud by following their example.
How do you overcome challenges?
This business can be challenging but I think sometimes walking away for 5 minutes gives my brain breathing space to think things through and come up with solutions, in addition I think, again in work, talking things through with people always helps.
Colleagues describe me as Hardworking, caring, giggly, independent & warm.
In your eyes, what is your biggest personal achievement?
Buying a house! Having my name on a mortgage was something I had dreamed of for a very long time.

In your eyes, what is your biggest personal achievement?
Definitely moving to UK by myself and establishing a career here. Changing country is never easy, especially when you have to make completely new connections on every level and you don’t have your family around to support you through the hard times. I think it really made me believe in my own resilience and ability to achieve anything I want if I really put my mind to it. I was also very lucky to meet wonderful people and create true friendships.
Who is your role model and why?
I feel like I should name someone famous but I actually really look up to one of my best friends. I absolutely admire their ambition, intelligence, leadership skills, creativity and ability to always stay strong, even when the odds are against them. I take a lot of inspiration from our conversations and it makes me often think outside of the box. I think wouldn’t be where I am now without this example to follow.
How do you overcome challenges?
Stay calm, stay positive and believe that ‘I’ve got this’. If you believe that everything will end up going your way it usually does. You just need to give yourself a chance and try your best.

proud of getting my black belt in Jujitsu when I was 13 and the decision to turn vegetarian off my own back when I was 12 (still ongoing).
Who is your role model and why?
My sister, she’s just amazing. She’s independent, caring, intelligent and hilarious. She’s my best friend and I look up to everything she’s done. She has this special ability of being able to support me through everything I go to her with and she’s generally just an inspiring woman who has achieved and overcome so many things in her lifetime so far.
How do you overcome challenges?
It’s important for me to always try to solve things myself first as I believe it’s important for personal progression and I enjoy teaching myself new things, but I always make sure to ask for help if I need it. I’m not afraid of not knowing the answer and love asking questions.
Colleagues describe me as Creative, independent, realistic & strong-willed.
What is your biggest personal achievement?
There are quite a few things but I suppose the thing that was a personal achievement was also the thing that changed my life at the time to a degree and that was passing my driving test. I know that may seem daft to some people but, well let’s just say it took a couple of attempts! And it allowed me to travel from home in Devon (when I lived there for 8 years) to Reading where all of my family and friends live.
Who is your role model and why?
I don’t have one specific person as a role model in my life because I am truly blessed with some great people. I have amazing parent’s, grandparent’s, siblings and friends and they all in their own way bring something to my life and make me the person I am.
How do you overcome challenges?
