human-resources, Human Resources, join-us...
Alicja is the seventh to feature in our blog series 'fresh faces'. Alicja is working alongside Business Manager and Interim Senior HR Consultant Lucy-Emma in the Human Resources division, covering the Permanent market.
Why did you join?
I had a great first impression of the business and really wanted to work for a specialist recruiter. The option to run my own desk, with fewer restrictions was something I wanted when starting my job search so being offered this at Wade Macdonald made up part of my decision to join.
What were your expectations before you started? How have they changed now?
Every expectation I had to begin with has been met, and exceeded (which is obviously great!). I had a very positive outlook of the business and Chris so I walked in expecting only good things. Recruitment is fun but hard work, which is well known. But honestly, it’s been a lot more fun than I expected.
How would you describe the relationships between all the staff members?
A support network. This may be really cliché but we are a family. Everyone gets along very well and they make you feel welcome from day one.
What’s your favourite things about Wade Macdonald?
- The culture. Work hard, play hard with no bad feelings – everyone celebrates successes and losses together.
- The Freedom to be yourself and work like you want to work
- The social element and knowing people outside of the office. It is refreshing to have colleagues who I refer to as friends.
What advice would you give to individuals who want to get into recruitment?
Work hard from the beginning and have realistic expectations of what you are going to achieve. Make sure you find a business that will support and develop you.
The best way to make sure you’ve made the right decision is to think about it ten times over. There are easier jobs on the market.
Who makes the best cup of tea/coffee?
I wouldn’t know, I make my own! I sit with Lucy-Emma who doesn’t drink a lot of hot drinks so when she has the odd herbal tea ill make it for her while I’m making myself a drink - I’m very much a tea person.
