Michael is the fifth to feature in our blog series 'fresh faces'. Our Marketing Executive Issi, sat down with Michael to ask him a few questions based on his time at Wade Macdonald so far..
Why did you join?
When I first met with Chris and both the Founders, Dominic and Philip, I really bought into the fact that we all seemed to have the same vision for the progression and importance of Data Science in today’s market.
Being told I had the autonomy of building my own desk was also a point of interest that pulled me towards Wade Macdonald. I appreciate the fact everyone knows they have the guidance and support they want when its needed but there’s not constant pressure from management.
What were your expectations before you started? How have they changed now?
I came to Wade Macdonald for a fun, new challenge. Although I’ve had responsibility over my own desk previously, I have a lot of freedom with the way I work now.
The office atmosphere and colleagues aren’t like your generic recruitment agency. Everyone supports everyone, there’s such a friendly, banterous vibe.
How would you describe the relationships between all the staff members?
Banter. Like I said before, everyone is extremely helpful especially the more senior members. Wade Macdonald have managed to find a really great balance of hard work and fun within the office.
What’s your favourite things about Wade Macdonald?
The best bit is autonomous working. We’re encouraged to go out and meet interesting and innovative companies face-to-face and explore the markets. It’s refreshing not to be sat behind a desk 24/7.
Aside from the working environment, I love the competitive nature of Table-Tennis.
What advice would you give to individuals who want to get into recruitment?
Work hard and you’ll be rewarded. You have to realise it’s not for everyone but if you can be personal and enthusiastic you can achieve a lot at any age.
Who makes the best cup of tea/coffee?
I bring coffee into work every morning because I love my Nespresso machine and its always stocked. But back to the question, if I have a cup at work I usually just make my own so… me?
