Michael is the sixth to feature in our blog series 'fresh faces'. Our Marketing Executive Issi, sat down with Michael to ask him a few questions based on his time at Wade Macdonald so far..
Why did you join?
I joined for a new opportunity. I wanted a role that was closer associated with my financial background (Credit Control) and had a more relaxed and professional environment as I enjoy getting my head down and getting stuck into work. Although it’s still a buzzy environment being within a recruitment office, there are less distractions so it’s easier for me to settle in and really be focused on what I am doing.
What were your expectations before you started? How have they changed now?
I’d met with Chris and Cat, discussed the managerial support and direction of the company and this aligned with where I wanted to be. I wanted more freedom and independence with my work and have been able to have this at Wade Macdonald. Recruitment is hard work; I already knew this so the expectation was more of an understanding, but like I said previously I enjoy getting my head down so this works for me.
Although I previously worked within a recruitment office, the culture and work structure here is different and has matched up to my expectations so far!
How would you describe the relationships between all the staff members?
Everyone works really well together. There’s a really supportive vibe, everyone helps each other with their workload.
It’s great to have a Manager like Cat who is a very approachable, lovely lady. There’s a motherly vibe about her but she’s stern and handles the team well. She’s someone who you can openly talk to about anything and who will in turn give advice and guidance, whatever you go to her about.
What’s your favourite things about Wade Macdonald?
The supportive atmosphere. Everyone helps everyone, it’s not a dog eat dog environment. We all push and encourage each other towards success.
What advice would you give to individuals who want to get into recruitment?
Make sure you have a passion for what you are doing and make sure you take every single piece of advice senior staff offer to you.
Who makes the best cup of tea/coffee?
I don’t drink tea or coffee unless I make it myself but Zoe is always zipping in and out of the kitchen making herself coffee and always asks around if anyone else wants anything so on that basis I would have to say Zoe!
