Fresh Faces - James Wisener

James is the fourth to feature in our blog series 'fresh faces'. Our Marketing Coordinator Issi, sat down with James to ask him a few questions based on his time at Wade Macdonald so far..

Why did you join?

I’d been considering a career in recruitment throughout my final year at university. After having been approached directly by Chris Goulding, I felt warmed to Wade Macdonald and upon further research, I decided it would be a perfect fit for me.

What were your expectations before you started? How have they changed now?

I’ve always heard that a recruitment environment is (in a positive way) different to that of other office based jobs. The premise of being my own boss, in my own field excited me and the prospect of no day being the same appealed to me, as I knew that my role would be dynamic from the outset and remain this way through time.

In many ways they haven’t. I feel as if my positive expectations have been maintained. However, I did not expect to be welcomed by such a broad range of people in such a short period of time. All in all, the future is looking bright.

How would you describe the relationships between all the staff members?

Regardless of position, whether it be from my Line Manager to Managing Director to the Founders of the business, everyone is always approachable to have a discussion with both in a professional and social sense. I know it’s a cliché but it is a working family.

What your favourite thing about working for Wade Macdonald?

It’s a very fresh environment and is always looking to change. I never get the feeling that the company is content with where it currently is and is always looking to develop.

As we have recently developed a more specific focus on the Payroll market, I’ve enjoyed being a part of this process.

What advice would you give to individuals who want to get into recruitment?

You have to buy a ticket to win the raffle. If you’re looking for a role that has no chance of becoming stagnant, whilst spending your working hours with fun and likeminded individuals, then recruitment is the place for you.

Who makes the best cup of tea/coffee?

Costa… Okay okay, legend has it that it is a toss-up between Tony Campbell and Ashley Page. However as someone who makes their own coffee, I’m yet to find out…
